Warning, this ONLY applies to the Toshiba/Samsung drive! This is part 1 of a step-by-step walkthrough on how to replace your DVD drive. If you’re games are taking longer and longer to load, you get a lot of dirty disc errors, or worse, you get the screen saying “Place this disc in an XBox 360 to play,” then this is for you. A couple notes: 1. This image will give you a better idea of which screws take out: dancrum.org 2. The white ribbon cables inside the DVD drive are VERY fragile. Be careful! That said, good luck!

Buy the High-Definition DVD here: www.ebay.co.uk Play the first part of this video to see if you can identify any stuck or dead pixels. Play the second part of this video beneath the stuck pixel to attempt to unfreeze it and if you wish gently rub the area with a Q-Tip or a similar material which will not damage or scratch the screen, it may take 4-5 tries to make this work, but this works most of the time. Please however, bare in mind this technique doesn’t work 100% of the time.

This is my dell monitor. After turning on the power button the screen would go blank after a couple seconds and the power light would stay on. I searched the problem online and found out it was the inverter on the power board. I found a new power board on eBay and replaced it in this video. Sorry it was so bright but I accidentally had the camera set to night shot lol. Hope this video helps you to repair yours. Thumbs up if it did. Peace

Monitors fail. In most cases, it’s a capacitor problem and you can cheaply and easily identify and replace them. For me it wasn’t and this is the solution I found to get me by until I can afford a new one.

I bought this laptop in Aug 08 and within 6 months the screen was flickering… badly! Then it went away for a few months and returned with a mission to destroy my life. So I downloaded the repair manual and with the help of the notebookreview.com forum I repaired it. This is the film of the book of the story. EDIT – I have uploaded a second video to show the screen disassembly and repair to the other end of the LCD cable.
