A Hefei city court sentenced Gu Kailai, the wife of disgraced Politburo member Bo Xilai, to death on Monday, but has suspended her execution by two years. This is the latest development in a scandal that’s shaken the ruling Communist regime ahead of a leadership transition later this year. There’s been no official word on what will happen to Wang Lijun, the former police chief who set off the string of political upsets that resulted in Gu Kailai’s suspended sentence on Monday. Rights groups have claimed that Wang Lijun was involved in the taking of organs from prisoners of conscience, though one analyst believes it’s unlikely these allegations will ever be made public by Chinese authorities. There is another twist in the dispute over the ownership of the Diaoyu—or as they are known in Japan, Senkaku—Islands group in the East China Sea. Ten or so Japanese nationalists swam ashore one of the islands and planted a flag saying “Japanese Territory.” The video of the action was released by nationalist-leaning Japanese internet video network, Sakura on Monday. Over the weekend (August 19), anti-Japanese protests erupted in several cities across China. The protests were sparked by the dispute over the Senkaku, or Diaoyu Islands—an island chain claimed by both China and Japan. If you are planning a trip to China, you might want to leave some extra time. Since December of last year the requirements for getting a visa from almost all countries have increased. The Chinese embassy in …

I’m disappointed with the AT&T U-Verse phone audio quality. With my previous AT&T land line, the audio quality was crystal clear. As soon as the AT&T U-Verse phone line was installed, a continuous buzzing sound was present on all of my phones. An AT&T technician came out and re-wired everything but the buzzing sound still persists. Even with a corded phone connected directly to the gateway, the buzzing sound is exactly the same. I’m very upset because I liked the idea of having free long distance, viewing incoming calls on my television, etc. However, those novelties are not worth the degraded phone audio quality. After several calls to India, I finally got in touch with a support person here in the United States. I’m rolling back to a standard land line (“POTS”). This is extremely disappointing and I hope that I don’t encounter similar issues with the AT&T U-Verse television and/or Internet services. So far the Internet has been blazing fast. The television is okay but it loses audio and/or makes weird sounds when fast-forwarding or rewinding. Also, the television to my knowledge does not yet currently support 1080P and the overall picture quality is not as sharp as Dish Network in my opinion. At this point in time, I’m only satisfied with the U-Verse Internet. I wish that I still had my Dish Network for television. I’m questioning whether or not saving on the monthly television/Internet/phone bills was worth the switch. Hopefully the quality of the AT&T U-Verse service …

This is a fix for the network problem on vista. This is where you are asked for a username and password to access another computer’s files, but are unable to turn this off. After going to “Control Panel Network and Internet Network and Sharing Center” and selecting “Turn off password protected sharing”, many people find that password protected sharing remains on. If you follow the steps in the video, on the computer you are trying to access, it should be fixed. Music : The Bomb! by The Bucketheads
