So what is this program? When you are working on your computer and installing a new program, the installation suddenly fails. Now you are left with a partly installed program. You try to install the program again, but you are unsuccessful. Or, maybe you have problems trying to remove an old program because the installation files are corrupted. Do not worry. Windows Installer CleanUp Utility might be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over. Link: support.microsoft.com New channel! www.youtube.com

Luis von Ahn, the man who brought the world CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA unveiled his newest and most innovative project to date: Duolingo. How can you translate the entire internet and do it for free? Duolingo will be a revolutionary product in which millions of internet users from around the world will work together to translate the internet and learn a new language at the same time. All for free. Luis von Ahn is the A. Nico Habermann Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He builds systems that combine humans and computers to solve large-scale problems that neither can solve alone. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

This is handy for those that work from home and deal with transferring web site files over a WiFi network. First and foremost I provide an overview of configuring a router to make it more secure. I discuss how to find the IP address of the router, how to log into the router and change the default usernames and password, how to set up encryption, how to limit connectivity by limiting allowed IP addresses and setting up MAC address filtering, and how to change the name, or SSID, of the router and how to turn off the broadcasting of that name. I make a note of password security and how passwords should be unique across all accounts, and I suggest password management software. (I use: RoboForm) Once the connection is secure I begin to discuss setting up a secure FTP (or FTP) connection so that you can securely transfer web site files to a web server. The video is filmed as a screencast using the web based tool Screenr (free version allows 5 minutes of recording), and I use OpenOffice.org free tool for publishing. In the demonstration I am working in a Windows environment and using FileZilla to create the secure connection. Even if you do not intend to transfer web site files the beginning portion of this video still offers great discussion for securing a wireless network.

We’ve experienced battery life problems with the Nokia Lumia 920, running Windows Phone 8. The battery was only lasting 3 to 4 hours after a full charge. We’ve heard of similar problems with the HTC 8X. The problem rests with Tap to Send (NFC). Simply turning it off seems to rectified the problem. Please let us know what you think!
