Skyrim XBOX 360 textures hard drive installed vs game disc only

Important, must read. This is a little experiment I conducted to see if the tales about the textures on Skyrim are any different if you have the game installed to the HDD or not. One of the Skyrim devs said on twitter that there was no difference so I made this video. I did this on a retail copy with the day 1 patch installed after clearing my system cache. You can clearly see more texture on my character’s hand when the game isn’t installed to the HDD. This is the second time I conducted the experiment. The first time I conducted it I found that when the game was installed to the HDD both the leather armour texture AND my character’s hand were really low res yet looked much better without the game installed. The second time, as seen in this video, it was just the hand that looked better without the install. Update: I did this a few more times outdoors and indoors and I consistently experienced lower res textures when playing off the HDD.

RAGE PC Framerate and Texture Pop-In Fixes (Creating Cache Folders and Tweaking Settings)

Bethesda and id software launched RAGE on Tuesday, Oct 4th, however many PC users are complaining about framerate stuttering, texture pop-in, and many other performance issues. Luckily, the gaming community is quickly discovering some work-arounds until id releases its first patch. Watch this video to learn how to: 1. Apply GPU Transcoding options for high-end graphics cards 2. Create a game cache folder that RAGE most likely forgot to create during installation 3. For nVidia GeForce users, tweak your GPU hardware settings (vertical sync) in the nVidia Control Panel UPDATED NEWS: ———————— October 6th: You can also add some launch options to the game if you have purchased the Steam version: 1. In your Steam library, right click RAGE, click Properties, and click the Set Launch Options button. 2. Paste in this launch options string: +cvaradd g_fov 12 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +image_anisotropy 16 +image_usecompression 0 +g_showplayershadow 1 +m_smooth 1 3. Click OK. This string changes a number of things.
