Reality touchscreen University of Groningen
This is the curved (!) screen in our reality center of the University of Groningen. We just finished building our own touch detection for it. We used six Optitrack v120 slim camera’s which have a good sensitivity for infrared light. We used 16 cheap infrared emitters (the kind used for security systems) with a total of 1000 LED’s. The touch detection software runs on three old computers each with two camera’s connected. One extra computer combines the output from the detection computers and send event data to our main visualization system. This way we have (even using the old computers) enough processing power to be able to run the detection software at 60Hz and with a latency between 30 ms and 50 ms. It can detect without any problem 100 different touches at any time (more is possible, but it becomes slower) We used a modified version of Community Core Vision (CCV) 1.4 (nuigroup.com) (modified so it can do two camera’s on one computer). The communication protocol is preferable TUIO (tuio.org) and we did install Multi-touch Vista (multitouchvista.codeplex.com), which translates TUIO events to WM_TOUCH events for windows 7. The demos you see in the video are from Multitouch for Java(tm) MT4J (mt4j.org/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page). The part where the wizards are throwing fireballs at each other is using msafluid (project home is at msavisuals.com/msafluid ). The curved screen itself is consist of a 3 mm dark acrylic layer, coated with a diffuser on the front. Illumination …

How to Connect a Laptop Computer to a TV Using HDMI – Watch Youtube or Netflix on your TV
www.tvtrade.ie www.facebook.com This video from TV Trade shows how to connect your laptop Computer or PC to a TV so that you can watch the likes of Netflix or Youtube. This demonstration is of how to do this using an HDMI cable. This is the best method as it will output both the sound and picture by just using one HDMI cable. HDMI outputs are not available on every PC or Laptop Computer, but where available it is simply the best method of outputting your Laptops screen to a TV. Older TV will not have a HDMI out put either but pretty much all flat screen TVs will have a HDMI input. Where HDMI is not available, you should investigate the VGA method which also works really well but again is not suitable for every TV, so make sure before you buy the appropriate cables.
RAM Upgrade – Fix Your Slow PC
Learn guitar chords for FREE through our new game Chord Master: bit.ly In this video, Mahalo computer expert Sean Hewitt shows you how to fix your slow PC by upgrading your RAM. How Upgrade Your RAM ——————————————————————— RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It’s not used in the same way that memory on a hard drive is used to store programs, documents and other files. RAM, however, provides space for your computer to read and write data to be accessed by the CPU. If you add more RAM to your computer, you essentially reduce the number of times your CPU must read data from your hard drive. This usually allows your computer to work considerably faster. Data stored in RAM is volatile, so it stays there only as long as your computer is running. As soon as you turn the computer off, the data stored in RAM disappears. Upgrading your RAM is probably one of the easiest and best ways to improve your computer’s performance. To do this, you need to know what Type of RAM you currently have installed. A free program from Download.com called CPU-Z will analyze your system and provide you with this information. In this example, one would need to upgrade with DDR3 RAM to be most compatible with the current system. If you have a 32-bit operating system, you will be limited to a maximum of 4 GB of RAM. If you have a 64-bit operating system, however, you can have as much as 16 GB of RAM installed on your machine. You also need to refer to your …

Learn guitar chords for FREE through our new game Chord Master: bit.ly In this video, Mahalo expert Sean Hewitt explains what the registry is on your PC and how to clean it up to help speed up your computer. What You Need to Know About Registry Info ——————————————————————— Cleaning up your PC’s registry is equivalent to cleaning up old or unknown contacts in your phone address book. It clears out the clutter to help speed up your computer. A registry is simply an index that tracks where things are and where they are going on your computer. To access your computer’s registry, click on the Start Menu and type Run in the search field. Click on Run under Programs at the top of the search results. Type regedit in the Run dialogue box that pops up and click OK. This brings up your Registry Editor. You’re probably working in something like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click SOFTWARE to your registry database. There are registry cleaners available, but the problem with them is they’ll scan your computer and just guess and check to remove files they don’t think should be there. You’ll definitely want to do a system backup and a registry backup before you use a cleaner. So, keep in mind the dangers of a catchall registry cleaner. If you have to use one, Wise Disk Cleaner Free is suggested. Read more by visiting our page at: www.mahalo.com
