The drive makes a few pronounced clicking/clunking noises when inserting media. It seems as if this would not be normal but from what i’ve read and heard it is. The drive seems to function fine otherwise. So….. If you’re MBP is making these noises don’t worry to much. It seems to be a certain brand of drives apple switched to. Hopefully this is normal and is more just an annoyance then a mechanical malfunction.

Well, I’m now FINALLY showing you all how to flash a drive! The Hitachi drives are in my opinion the easiest to flash, and any drives pre-78 (like this one) aren’t reflashed by Microsoft through updates, and avoid AP2.5 checks! The later of which is pretty much useless now due to XGD3 being released. Anyways, you all have been asking and waiting patiently, and here it is! Enjoy!

Warning, this ONLY applies to the Toshiba/Samsung drive! This is part 2 of a step-by-step walkthrough on how to replace your DVD drive. If you’re games are taking longer and longer to load, you get a lot of dirty disc errors, or worse, you get the screen saying “Place this disc in an XBox 360 to play,” then this is for you. A couple notes: 1. This image will give you a better idea of which screws take out: dancrum.org 2. The white ribbon cables inside the DVD drive are VERY fragile. Be careful! That said, good luck!

My DVD burner stopped burning disks, it actually wouldn’t even read disks anymore so I took it apart and cleaned the laser. Its very easy to do and you don’t need an expensive lens cleaning disk to do it it cost almost nothing.Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!
