Here is an Acer TravelMate 8000 model 8003LMi. This is what happens when you try to turn it on. It just makes some loud beeping noises. I was told that it was a motherboard problem, so I ended up selling it on ebay.

Dell Inspiron 530 Splash Screen Hang, How to fix
Desktop didn’t want to boot up and stopped working, it was stuck and hung at the Dell splash screen. F2 and F12 BIOS setup and boot configuration escape keys were not responding. I thought the motherboard or disks went bad, nearly took the entire computer apart until I found the simple and quite silly problem… I left a Sony MemoryStick Pro Duo in the card reader! I hope this video helps anyone with the same or similar Dell system encountering system boot up problems – the computer is not broken so hold off on getting a motherboard, calling Dell, or worse, using the very expensive Geek Squad. Check your memory card slots first! LOL

EVGA Classified SR-2 Motherboard Issues: FRAPS & Power Consumption
Ok guys, I am quickly getting close to my computer showcase, but first I wanted to communicate problems that anyone with a desire to build a similar computer will also have. There are certain programs that won’t run with more than 16 cores such as FRAPS and the power usage for my setup is more than a standard household circuit can provide. I knew the build was going to have issues, mine always do…but I was unaware of these issues that surfaced. Incidentially I didn’t mention one other issue. I originally bought W7 Home Premium when W7 was released, well Home Premium doesn’t support two physical processors! WHAT!?!?!? I had to get my hands on W7 Professional which supports dual processors. Sheesh! What next! Enjoy!

Replacing Leaking Capacitors on a Motherboard
A bit of a project “teaser” I could do a little more in-depth version if there is enough interest – Created on March 27, 2011 using FlipShare. “Bad Caps” can cause all sorts of quirky electronics problems. Sometimes these are the Gremlin or “Ghost in the machine” that cause funky problems. You can sometimes hear them “whistling” high pitched screams. Kind of like an electronic banshee signaling the demiss of your favorite piece of electronics. Grab a flash light and unplug whatever device your checking and do a physical inspection. If you see these caps looking like “jiffy pop” popcorn or leaking like an old battery your have a candidate for cap replacement. A bad formula for the capacitors was stolen (corporate espionage” is the main reason for the problem. From WiKi: The capacitor plague (also known as bad capacitors) is an ongoing problem with premature failure of large numbers of electrolytic capacitors of certain brands. Capacitors are used in various electronics equipment, particularly motherboards, video cards, compact fluorescent lamp ballasts, LCD monitors, and power supplies of personal computers. The first flawed capacitors were seen in 1999, but most of the affected capacitors were made in the early to mid 2000s.
